Senior Student-Athletes Recognized at Senior Banquet
ST. LOUIS - The Saint Louis University department of athletics held its annual Senior Student-Athlete Banquet at Lorenzini's in Chaifetz Arena Wednesday night in advance of this week's graduation ceremonies.
Sixty-two Billiken student-athletes, spirit squad members, pep band members and their families were recognized and honored by SLU director of athletics Chris May and the University staff. Each received a gift and a royal blue SLU student-athlete sash to be worn with their cap and gown at graduation.
Senior awards were also distributed. Brian Conklin from men's basketball was named Most Outstanding Male Senior Student-Athlete, while Brittney Cloudy of the women's track and field team was named Most Outstanding Female Senior Student-Athlete. Travis Parker of the baseball team was named Most Inspirational for making the most of an unfortunate situation after having to sit out a season due to an NCAA regulation. Candace Ruocco, a law student and Saintsation who has contributed many hours of community service, was announced as the Most Outstanding Spirit Group member.
