ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis' women's cross country team was picked to finish sixth in the Atlantic 10 Conference by a vote of the league's head coaches. The Billiken men's team was tabbed to finish 11th.

The women's squad finished in a program-best fourth place at last year's A-10 Championship, and they return their top four runners from that meet. Senior Hilary Orf, a two-time All-Conference performer, set the school 5K record at the A-10s with a seventh-place time of 17:48. Sophomore Margo Richardson was tabbed the league's Freshman of the Year after finishing ninth at the A-10 meet with a time of 17:51, marking the first time the Billikens had two runners claim A-10 All-Conference accolades in the same season. Junior Elise Medley and senior Jenna Romano also return for the Bills, giving them a solid and experienced top five.

Junior Jack Hostettler finished second among the Billikens in every race last season and is expected to lead a young group. Sophomore Logan Davis finished third for SLU in four races last year, including the final three. Freshmen Michael Scolarici and Sean Canavin will lead a group of six newcomers.

"We return six of our top seven runners from last year on the women's side, so we are anxious to get the season underway," SLU head coach Jon Bell said. "I anticipate the women finishing better than sixth in the A-10. On the men's side, we have a talented group of freshmen who could step in and contribute in a big way. All have trained well in the offseason, and we look forward to getting the season started in September."

The Billikens begin the 2011 cross country slate Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Huskie Open at Northern Illinois University. The A-10 Championship takes place Saturday, Oct. 29, in Charlotte, N.C.
