Billiken swimmers competed in an event on Saturday, January 19 at the Simon Rec Center against Lindenwood-Belleville. The men won by the score of 161 to 43, and the women came out on top with a 137 to 75 final tally.
Prior to the event, Athletic Director Chris May, along with head coach Jim Halliburton recognized the seven seniors that competed on the team this season. They include Mitchell Ellis (Fairfield, Ohio • Aerospace Engineering), Cal Higgins (Phoenix, Ariz. • University College), Justin Mars (St. Louis, Mo. • Finance), Alex Schmid (Peachtree, Ga. • Physical Therapy), Molly Updegraff (Frederick, Md. • Occupational Sciences), Isaiah Willams (Phoenix, Ariz. • Nursing) and Paulina Wolska (Schaumburg, Ill. • Physical Therapy).
In the men’s 400 medley relay, a team made up of the senior men, Higgins, Mars, Ellis and Williams, placed first with a time of 3:26.03.
Williams was also victorious in the men’s 200 IM (1:57.52).
Collin O’Brien found himself with the best time in two men’s events: 100 free (47.41) and 200 breast (2:09.47).
Claire Koh nabbed the women’s 200 free with a time of 2:00.59, while Claire Brewer grabbed the 100 free (57.01).
Natalie Daniel finished first in three of her events. Those were the 200 IM (2:15.00), 500 free (5:19.37) and 400 free relay (3:42.94).
