ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis head softball coach Christy Connoyer has announced the signing of middle infielder/catcher Maria Connell (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central H.S.) to a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and compete for the Billikens beginning this fall.

Connell earned All-Area and All-Conference honors and served as team captain at Plainfield Central. She posted a .349 career batting average and finished among the program's all-time leaders in RBIs (second, 100), doubles (second, 39) and hits (third, 156). Connell plays travel softball with the LIDS Indy Dreams.

Connell participated in Plainfield Central's Athletic Leadership Program and was an honor roll student.

“Maria is a competitor,” Connoyer said. “She is a solid defender with a positive energy toward the game. Her tenacity and sheer athletic ability will fit well in our program. We're excited to welcome Maria to the Billiken family.”
