ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University softball placed 13 of its 16 student-athletes on the 2016-17 Easton All-America Scholar-Athlete list compiled by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The award is bestowed upon players who achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average during an entire academic year.
The Billikens’ All-America Scholar-Athletes are Maddie Baalman, Kaylyn Breitbach, Emma Buckles, Kaylea Chappelle, Josie Knesel, Mackenzie Lawson, Megan LoBianco, Kallen Loveless, Allie Macfarlane, Alex Nickel, Mackenzie Peter, Alyssa Tarquinio and Hailey Weavers. Knesel, Nickel, Peter and Weavers earned All-America Scholar-Athlete recognition for a third time, while Buckles, Lawson, Loveless and Macfarlane collected the honor for a second time.
“Our student-athletes excel on the field and in the classroom,” head coach Christy Connoyer said. “They are high-achieving individuals who take pride in their work on and off the field. I am very proud of their work ethic to achieve such an honor from the NFCA.”
