ST. LOUIS – Three Billikens are set to be inducted into the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame on April 13 at 6 p.m. in the Sheraton Westport in St. Louis. The inductees are current head coach Darin Hendrickson, former player and coach Ed Kopff and pitching great Mark Schwarz.
Hendrickson has been the Billiken skipper since 2008. In that time he has amassed a 292-221 record, the second-most wins in school history. From 2009-15, Hendrickson had a school-record seven consecutive winning seasons. He was the 2012 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year and a Collegiate Baseball National Coach of the Year honorable mention in 2013. Hendrickson is the only coach in SLU history to record back-to-back 30+ win seasons, a feat he achieved twice (2009-10 and 2012-13).
Kopff played for the Billikens from 1977-78. He returned to coach the Billikens from 1985-87. Kopff also coached the Crestwood American Legion team.
Schwarz is one of the most decorated pitchers in SLU history. He is seventh all-time at SLU with 17 wins, 13th with 163 career strikeouts and 13th with a 3.99 career ERA. Schwarz holds the Billiken record with 24 career complete games. He was inducted into the Saint Louis Hall of Fame in 2013.
