•Indiana State overcame an early double-digit deficit and held off a late Saint Louis rally to defeat the Billikens 70-67 Tuesday night at Chaifetz Arena.

•SLU, ranked No. 6 in the ESPN national mid-major poll, fell to 7-2. Indiana State improved to 5-4 with its second consecutive victory.


•Saint Louis scored the first nine points and led 15-4 after Jenny Vliet buried a 3-pointer with 1:31 left in the first quarter.

•Indiana State assembled a 24-9 run that put the Sycamores on top 28-24 with 3:14 remaining in the second quarter. They led 30-28 at intermission.

•After SLU narrowed the lead to 34-33 with 7:29 to play in the third quarter, Indiana State gradually pulled out to a 10-point cushion on two occasions late in the period. It was 53-45 Sycamores heading into the fourth.

•The margin grew to 13 less than a minute into the final stanza before Saint Louis began chipping away.

•The Billikens sank eight free throws in a 13-2 spurt that trimmed the Sycamores’ lead to 60-58 with 5:09 remaining.

•SLU had five possessions to either tie or take the lead but could not capitalize.


Sadie Stipanovich scored a game-high and season-high-tying 20 points, and she grabbed nine rebounds.

Jenny Vliet scored a season-high 16 points and registered career highs in free throws made and attempted (8-of-10)

Olivia Jakubicek (4-of-7 FG) posted her third consecutive double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds (six offensive). The 13 boards tied her career high and tied for game-high honors.

Jackie Kemph tallied a game-high 11 assists.

•The Billikens shot 81.5 percent (22-of-27) from the free throw line.


•Ashley Taia, 13 points, six rebounds, five assists; Ashli O’Neal, 13 points; Rhagen Smith, 11 points, three blocks; Wendi Bibbins, nine points, 13 rebounds, three assists, three blocks; Regan Wentland, seven points, six rebounds.


•Following a break for final exams, the Billikens play at Tulsa Thursday, Dec. 15. Game time is 7 p.m.
