BILLIKENS LOOK TO REBOUND FROM FIRST LOSS

•The Saint Louis Billikens (5-1) try to bounce back from their first loss of the season when they battle the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks (3-4) Tuesday night. Game time at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau is 6:30 p.m.

•The Billikens are No. 6 in the most recent ESPN mid-major national rankings.

•SLU dropped a 56-43 decision Saturday afternoon at Little Rock.

•Also on Saturday, SEMO downed Alcorn State 68-50 in the consolation game of the Southern Miss Thanksgiving Classic.

Jordyn Frantz scored 15 points and Jenny Vliet pulled down 10 rebounds, but Saint Louis lost 56-43 at Little Rock last Saturday. Click here to read the recap.

•The Billikens lead the Atlantic 10 Conference in scoring offense (73.5 ppg), field goal percentage (.461), assists (18.3 apg), assist-turnover ratio (1.47:1), fewest turnovers (12.5 tpg) and scoring margin (+15.0 ppg).

•Three players own double-digit scoring averages, led by Jackie Kemph (16.7 ppg). Jordyn Frantz tosses in 14.7 points per game, followed by Sadie Stipanovich (11.7 ppg).

•Stipanovich hauls in team highs of 7.5 rebounds and 3.2 offensive rebounds per game. Olivia Jakubicek averages 6.0 rebounds.

•Kemph dishes out a team-high 6.8 assists per game, followed by Frantz with 3.7 apg.

•Frantz leads the Billikens with 10 3-pointers, followed by Kemph and Jenny Vliet with nine treys apiece.

•Frantz averages a team-high 2.2 steals.

•SLU is the preseason favorite to win a conference championship for the first time in program history.

•In addition to the A-10 coaches’ prediction, College Sports Madness picked the Billikens to win the A-10 crown and projected them as a No. 10 seed in the NCAA Championship.

Jackie Kemph was selected to the A-10 preseason All-Conference first team, while Sadie Stipanovich earned a second-team nod. 

HEAD COACH LISA STONE

•Fifth-year head coach Lisa Stone, the 2015-16 A-10 Coach of the Year, owns a 573-299 record in her 31st year as a collegiate head coach. Stone is 70-62 at Saint Louis.

•In addition to earning the A-10 Coach of the Year award, Stone was selected High Major Coach of the Year by College Sports Madness.

•Before arriving at SLU, Stone was 128-119 in eight seasons at Wisconsin, 64-27 in three years at Drake, 277-59 in 12 campaigns at Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and 34-32 in three seasons at Cornell (Iowa).

SCOUTING REPORT: SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE

•The Redhawks were picked to finish last in the 12-team Ohio Valley Conference a year ago but tied for fifth with an 8-8 league record. They were 15-15 overall.

•Three starters and six additional players return from the 2015-16 team. One of the returning starters is senior guard Bri Mitchell, a second-team All-OVC selection a year ago.

•SEMO leads the OVC in field goal percentage (.448), 3-point field goal percentage (.403) and assists (18.9 apg). The Redhawks are second in scoring (75.9 ppg) and third in 3-pointers (7.7/game).

•Fifth-year senior guard/forward Olivia Hackmann is tied for the OVC lead in rebounding (9.0 rpg) and ranks second in the conference in scoring (17.2 ppg).

•Mitchell is second on the team in scoring (12.4 ppg).

•Junior guard Hannah Noe, who ranks second in the OVC in 3-pointers (20), tosses in 11.3 points per game.

•Sophomore guard Adrianna Murphy and Mitchell are 1-2 in the OVC in assists, averaging 7.9 and 6.1, respectively. Murphy leads the league in assist-turnover ratio (2.12:1).

•Junior forwards Deja Jones and Mandy Madden collect 6.9 and 6.4 rebounds per game, respectively.

UP NEXT

•The Billikens return home Saturday, Dec. 3, for the first of two consecutive games at Chaifetz Arena. Eastern Kentucky is the opponent, and tip time is slated for 2 p.m.
