•Saint Louis looks to start 3-0 for a second consecutive season when the Billikens host Illinois State of the Missouri Valley Conference Friday, Aug. 25. 
•After blanking Miami (Ohio) and Vanderbilt in its first two games, SLU also is attempting to tie a program record with a third straight shutout to begin a season. The 2003 Billikens are the only Saint Louis women’s soccer team to do so.
•The Billikens are 23-10-7 all-time vs. Missouri Valley Conference opponents. Saint Louis plays road games vs. MVC foes Missouri State and Evansville in September.

•Sunday’s victory extended the Billikens’ home winning streak to 11 – matching the program record (1999-2000) – and their home unbeaten streak to 12. SLU has not lost at home since falling 2-1 to Saint Joseph’s Oct. 22, 2015.

•Favored to win the Missouri Valley Conference title, Illinois State opened the season with a 1-1 tie at Eastern Michigan before falling 3-0 at home to nationally ranked Northwestern.
•The Redbirds were 14-6-3 overall last year, including a 5-0-1 MVC mark that placed them atop the league standings. Illinois State won the MVC tournament to earn a berth in the NCAA Championship, where the Redbirds advanced over Michigan on penalty kicks before losing to Duke in the second round.
•MVC Player of the Year Lauren Koehl (17 goals, eight assists) and Defensive Player of the Year Paige Jarsombeck have graduated. However, the Redbirds still feature sophomore forward Mikayla Unger, the 2016 MVC Freshman of the Year; senior midfielder/forward Kelli Zickert (6G, 5A), a first-team All-Conference choice a year ago; and a pair of 2016 MVC honorable mention players in junior midfielder Kiley Czerwinski and sophomore goalkeeper Haley Smith.
•Brad Silvey is in his first season as head coach after spending two years as a Redbird assistant.
