ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University women’s soccer has placed a program-record four players, including two first-team selections, on the 2018 United Soccer Coaches All-East Region teams.

Junior defender Alli Klug and senior forward/midfielder Maddie Pokorny were first-team choices. Junior midfielder Courtney Reimer and freshman midfielder/forward Hannah Friedrich garnered second-team plaudits.

The four honorees give Saint Louis 10 All-Region selections over the past three seasons, the most of any three-year period in program history.

Klug landed on the All-Region first team for a second consecutive season, becoming only the second Billiken (Courtney Hulcer, 2005, 2006) to earn two first-team nods. She was the Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-Conference choice for a second straight season, and she was selected to the A-10 Championship All-Tournament team.

Klug played 2,078 of a possible 2,103 minutes this season, and her performance along the back line led Saint Louis to the top of the A-10 in goals against average (0.60) and shutouts (school-record-tying 13). The Billikens allowed just 5.3 total shots, 2.7 shots on goal and 2.1 corner kicks per game, and they set a school mark for fewest shots allowed (123) in a season.

Pokorny was named Most Outstanding Player of the A-10 Championship and was a second-team All-Conference pick. She scored 13 goals to tie the SLU single-season record and added two assists to finish with 28 points, tying for third on the Billikens’ all-time single-season list. Pokorny led the A-10 in shots (school-record 87) and shots on goal (51), finished second in goals and was fourth in points.

Reimer, who joined Klug on the All-Conference first team, tallied three goals and five assists for 11 points. She tied for second on the team and tied for ninth in the A-10 in assists. A key component of the Billikens’ set pieces, Reimer netted two game-winning goals and three game-winning assists this season.

Friedrich established herself as one of the most prolific offensive players among the nation’s freshmen with NCAA top-10 rankings in goals, assists and points among first-year players. She scored a school-record 30 points, recording 11 goals and tying for first in the A-10 with eight assists. Friedrich, a second-team All-Conference performer who joined Klug and Pokorny on the A-10 Championship All-Tournament squad, was second in points and shots on goal (36), tied for third in goals and fifth in shots (61) in the A-10.
