Saint Louis enters the weekend series with Richmond sitting in seventh place in the Atlantic 10 and hoping to clinch a spot in the conference tournament. The top seven teams will head to Fordham May 22-25 to decide who will be a representative in the NCAA Regionals.

The Billikens are coming off of a sweep of George Mason last weekend and are winners of 6-of-7 in their most recent A-10 games.

Cole Dubet had a career series against the Patriots, and, in turn, he was named Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week. In three games against George Mason, Dubet went 10-15 (.667) with two home runs, three doubles, 10 RBIs and seven runs scored. He had 19 total bases in the series against the Patriots. On the season, Dubet is batting .323 with a team-leading seven home runs and 37 RBIs.

Junior Jake Garella leads the team with a .325 average, and last Sunday, he tied SLU’s single season double record with No. 22 in the first inning. Garella is now up to 25 doubles on the season, tops in the A-10.

RHP Connor Lehmann will earn start No. 14 for the Billikens on Friday, looking to improve on his 5-4 record and 3.42 ERA. He was named A-10 Co-Pitcher of the Week after tossing 7.0 shutout innings against the Patriots on Friday night. He scattered just six hits and tied a career-high with 12 strikeouts.

Richmond is 25-22-1 on the season, 11-7 in A-10 play. They took 2-of-3 from George Washington in their last conference series.

RHP Tim Miller will take the bump for the Spiders in Friday night’s contest. He’s 4-2 on the year, and his 3.20 ERA is ranked No. 11 in the A-10. Miller has made a team-high 12 starts in 2019, and he leads Richmond with 64.2 innings pitched.

Brendan McGiugan will be the Saturday starter for UR. The righty is second on the team with a 4.17 ERA. He’s made 12 overall appearances on the season, earning the start in 11 of the them. McGiugan has a team-leading 69 strikeouts in 58.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, the Spiders are led by Kyle Schmidt. The senior catcher is batting .362 on the year, good enough for fifth in the conference. Schmidt has hit 11 doubles and four home runs this season, to go along with his 34 RBIs.

Tyler Plantier and Anthony Forte have combined for 19 home runs in 2019, the third most by any duo in the A-10. Plantier is batting .337 on the year with nine homers, 41 RBIs and 40 runs scored. His .541 SLG is tops on the team. Forte has smacked 10 home runs, while driving in a team-leading 46 RBIs and scoring 39 runs.

The Billikens are 15-12 all-time against the Spiders.
