Mary Clark
Clark Selected for NCAA Leadership Institute

July 8, 2008

ST. LOUIS - The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has selected Saint Louis University director of (athletic) academic services Mary Clark to participate in the 2008-09 Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Males and Females.

"Its an honor to be chosen to be a part of such a prestigious institute, especially considering only 10 women were selected," Clark said. "I'm excited about the opportunity to grow as a professional and the chance to represent Saint Louis University."

The 12-month program will emphasize leadership and administration; human resource management; finance and fund-raising; booster, public and media relations; and leadership during four weekend sessions and one week-long meeting in Indianapolis. The institute will be facilitated by a diverse group of leaders in business, higher education and intercollegiate athletics.

The program was established in 2001 following a recommendation from the Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee. It is designed to address the shortage of senior-level ethnic minority females and males in athletics at the campus and conference levels.

Clark and George Washington assistant athletics director Jason Wilson are the only representatives from the Atlantic 10 Conference among the 23 people selected.
