Jonathan Burch, ATC, was named assistant director of athletics and director of sports medicine at Saint Louis University in July 2007.
A 1992 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, Burch supervises a staff of three full-time certified athletic trainers whose responsibilities include injury prevention, rehabilitation and evaluation of Billiken student-athletes from Saint Louis' 18 sports programs. In addition to overseeing the daily operation of the sports medicine staff, he serves as head athletic trainer for SLU's men's basketball, track and field, cross country and field hockey programs.
Burch spent four years as supervisor of sports medicine for the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss. In that capacity, he supervised six full-time certified athletic trainers and six part-time physical therapists. While overseeing and directing all aspects of the sports medicine program, he was also responsible for arranging consultations for Ole Miss student-athletes.
Prior to his stint at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Burch served as head athletic trainer at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock for seven years. While with the Trojans, he was the athletic trainer for the men's basketball program. Burch also served as head athletic trainer/outreach coordinator for the Arkansas Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center and was a head athletic trainer for the London Monarchs of NFL Europe in 1996.
Burch and his wife, Jill, reside in St. Louis.
