Billikens Close Out Day One of A-10 Outdoor Track Championship

Charlotte, N.C. - In day one action at the Atlantic 10 outdoor track and field championship, the Saint Louis women's team is in ninth place, while the men's team will look for its first points on Sunday. The A-10 meet is being held at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center at Charlotte, N.C.

Mary Moloney blazed across the line in fourth place in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 37:05.46. The 4x800 realy team finished in 10th place, while Anissa Reynolds took 11th in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 11:45.92.

For the men, Brian Poludniak threw the javelin 45.61 meters, good for ninth place. Steve Vargas was strong in the 10,000 and placed 10th with a time of 32:12.99, while Mat Stuber claimed 15th in the 3,000 steeplechase in 9:57.52. David Whelen also advanced to the finals of the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.10.

The meet concludes on Sunday in Charlotte, N.C.
