Holdmeyer covered the 8K course in a time of 26:54 to finish 80th out of 150-plus competitors. He helped the men's team to a 22nd-place showing. Moloney posted a 6K time of 23:12 to finish 70th out of more than 160 student-athletes. The women placed 17th overall as a team. "The men ran a much better race today than they did the last time out," Billiken head coach Jon Bell said. "I was especially encouraged by the performances of Scott Vicker and Kyle Ross, who finished third and fourth for us. The women should have competed better, and they realize that. I'm confident, however, that they will continue their good workouts and be ready to redeem themselves in two weeks at Bradley." Junior Neal Rodrigues placed second among the Billiken men for the third straight meet, posting a time of 27:02. Vicker and Ross posted times of 27:42 and 27:42, respectively. Also scoring for the Billikens was Stephen Mackey (28:08), Greg Orf (28:58) and Will Herrington (29:02).
Freshman Hilary Orf finished second among the Billikens and three spots behind Moloney overall with a time of 23:16. Molly Burke (23:45), Laura Peabody (24:00) and Sara Fraley (24:02) ran in a group that finished 93rd to 106th overall. Lauren Verzal (24:23) and Adair Quisenberry (24:40) also scored for the Billikens. Host Oklahoma State took the men's team title, while Northern Arizona won it on the women's side. The Billikens return to action Friday, Oct. 17, when they head to Peoria, Ill., for the Bradley University Classic. It will be the final tune-up before the Atlantic 10 Championship, which is slated for Nov. 1 in Charlotte, N.C. |
