Women's Cross Country Finishes Eighth at A-10 Championship

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Led by a 25th-place overall finish by Laura Coyer, the Saint Louis women's cross country team finished eighth in the team standings at the Atlantic 10 Conference championship meet at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Billiken men came home in 12th place, with Steve Vargas leading the way. Coyer covered the 5K course in 19:05.85, good for 25th overall. Mary Moloney was next for the Billikens in 33rd place with a time of 19:24.05. Brigette Schutzman was a strong third for SLU and 35th overall in 19:25.60, while Meaghan McCallin recorded a career-best 19:40.25 to finish in the top 50. Lauren Verzal was next for the Billikens in 19:44.20, and Laura Peabody completed a time fo 19:50.00. Anissa Reynolds just missed the 20-minute mark in 20:00.40. Vargas clocked a time of 27:02.70 over the 8K distance and was 53rd overall. Paul Lemon was just behind in 27:08.80 for 59th overall. Mat Stuber recorded a time of 27:24.75, and Matt McKenney was fourth for SLU in 27:34.10. Neal Rodrigues just got under the 28-minute mark in 27:56.55, with fellow freshman John Menchella clocking a 28:06.25. Jason Genta was next for SLU in 28:20.70 as the Billikens were just three points behind Rhode Island for 11th place.
