Cross Country Teams Run At NCAA Midwest Regional Meet

Iowa City, Iowa - At the NCAA Midwest Regional meet held on Saturday in Iowa City, Iowa, the Saint Louis men's team finished 21st, while the Billiken women were 23rd. The meet was the season finale for both squads. Steve Vargas ran the 10K course in 33:48, which placed him 89th overall. Freshman Matt McKenney was next for the team in 35:11, while senior Dan Herman ran in his last meet as a Billiken, finishing in a time of 35:23. Antonio Vega of Minnesota was the individual winner in a time of 30:52. Oklahoma State claimed the team title. For the women, Anissa Reynolds was the first Billiken finisher, covering the 6K distance in 23:56. Laura Coyer was second for SLU in 24:21, while Beth Shearman was next at 24:34. Wichita State's Desiraye Osburn won the women's meet, clocking a 20:43. Oklahoma State swept the team titles by winning the women's meet, too.
