Saint Louis University director of athletics Cheryl L. Levick announced that cross country coach Mike Uhrich is resigning his position effective immediately. He cited family and personal reasons for stepping down. A search for Uhrich's successor has already begun.

"We respect and understand Mike's decision to spend more time with his family," Levick said. "We appreciate his years of service to the University and wish him the best of luck in the future."

Uhrich had been the Billikens' men's and women's cross country coach since 1992. One of his biggest contributions to the program was the founding of the Cross Country-Only National Championship, a meet Uhrich created in 1999 for NCAA schools sponsoring cross country without the support of a track and field program. Uhrich's teams excelled in the classroom as he had the opportunity to coach Meg Gleason, who was a 1998 Rhodes Scholar, as well Don Lassus, a 2003-04 Academic All-America. In addition, Uhrich's squads earned eight Conference USA Sport Academic Awards.
