"LOUISVILLE SLUGGER'S" FRESHMEN ALL-AMERICAN BASEBALL TEAM

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis freshman third baseman Zach Miller (Dardenne Prairie, Mo./Fort Zumwalt West) has been selected to the 2009 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team, as announced today by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Miller becomes the second Billiken to claim freshman All-America honors, joining Brett Bredensteiner who earned the accolade in 1995. Earlier this season, Miller was named a freshman Mid-Season All-American by the baseball Web site www.pgcrosschecker.com, a division of the popular baseball Web site www.perfectgame.org, and earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 Conference's All-Rookie team.

The honor comes after Miller enjoyed one of the best rookie seasons in SLU baseball history. He accumulated 61 RBIs to rank first in school history among freshmen, also tying for fifth all time. That total also led the A-10 at the end of the regular season. Miller ranks among the top five on the freshman list in runs (39, tied for fourth), hits (70, second), doubles (11, tied for fourth), triples (four, tied for second), total bases (119, first) and home runs (10, tied for third).

Saint Louis closed its 2009 baseball campaign with a 30-25 record and a 12-13 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play. It is the third time SLU achieved 30 or more wins in a season, joining the 1977 squad (30) and trailing only the 2006 club's 32 victories.
