Box Score

Washington D.C. - Saint Louis managed just three field goals in the first half as the Billikens dropped their Atlantic 10 Conference opener 49-20 to George Washington at the Charles E. Smith Center in Washington D.C. on Thursday evening. The loss snapped the Billikens' three-game winning streak as the Colonials remained unbeaten at home this season.

The Colonials scored the first five points of the game before a Bryce Husak free throw put the Billikens on the board. GWU then tacked on a 6-0 run to take an 11-1 advantage eight minutes into the game. Luke Meyer hit a short jumper in the lane for SLU's first field goal of the game. With 10:21 left in the first half, Kevin Lisch hit a jumper from the left side to become the 23rd player in Billiken history to reach the 1,000-point milestone. A Barry Eberhardt bucket cut the GWU lead to 13-7 with 8:39 left in the half, but the Billikens would not score again before halftime. The Billikens struggled to a 3-of-25 (12.0 percent) shooting mark in the half and also had seven turnovers as the Colonials led 25-7 at the break.

Bryce Husak led the Billikens with five points. Damian Hollis topped George Washington with 13.

The Billikens drop to 9-6 overall, 0-1 in the A-10, and George Washington improves to 5-6, 1-0 in the A-10. The Billikens return home for a three-game homestand and welcome No. 17 Dayton to the Scottrade Center for a 7 p.m. game.
