Ellis' Double-Double Guides Aussies Past France 79-73
July 10, 2009
Saint Louis University men's basketball recruit Cody Ellis (Perth, Australia) registered a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds as Australia moved past France 79-73 in the quarterfinals of the Under-19 FIBA World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand, on July 10. The Emus advance to the semifinals where they play Greece on July 11. If Australia reaches the finals on July 12, it would face the winner of the USA-Croatia game. Ellis hit both of his 3-point attempts and all four free throws en route to his 14 points. The 6-foot-8 forward hauled down a team-high 10 boards to go along with three assists, two steals and a blocked shot. Fellow incoming SLU player Christian Salecich (Gold Coast, Australia) added a team-high three offensive rebounds to finish with four caroms overall and chipped in one steal. The Emus have won all seven games they have played in the tournament.
