Donigan Adds Two Local Players
April 27, 2007 ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis head men's soccer coach Dan Donigan announced today that David Kekec (St. Louis, Mo./Ladue) and Jordan Osborn (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) have committed to attend the University and play for the Billikens. The duo will begin their four years of eligibility beginning with the 2007 season. Kekec started all four years for the Ladue Rams and will graduate as its all-time scoring leader. In 2006, the midfielder netted a career-high 30 points (8G, 14A) while helping the Rams to a 12-8-7 record. A two-year team captain, the 5-foot-5 Kekec earned first-team All-State honors from the Missouri State High School Soccer Coaches Association and second-team All-Metro accolades from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. As an 11-year member of the Lou Fusz Soccer Club in St. Louis, Kekec won two state titles and performed on teams that finished second in the state five times. He also participated in the Olympic Development Program (ODP) for three years, including 2005 when he served as team captain for the `89 Region II pool team. "David is an explosive, hard working player who knows how to use his size to his advantage," Donigan said. "You do not necessarily have to have physical size to be an effective player, and he has proven that with his ability to cause problems for defenders. We expect him to contribute on the offensive side of the ball either in a wide midfield position or up top as a winger." Osborn began his prep career with two years at Woodland High School in Cartersville, Ga. He started in the central midfield as a freshman and went on to earn All-County honors in each of this two seasons. As a junior at Francis Howell North, Osborn netted 33 points (13G, 7A) for the Knights en route to a spot on the All-Conference team. He earned All-Metro honorable mention accolades from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch following his senior season after finishing with seven goals and a team-high 15 assists for 29 points.
Osborn has gathered club experience in the St. Louis Soccer Club (2005-07) as well as the Atlanta United Quest/Silver Backs Soccer Club (2001-05). "Jordan has good foot skills along with speed and athleticism," Donigan said. "We feel that he will add depth into the midfield and backfield positions." The pair joins an incoming class that includes transfer Brandon Barklage (St. Louis, Mo./CBC/New Mexico), Josh Boemecke (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) and Casey Herd (Arlington, Texas/Martin). |
