ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis head men's soccer coach Dan Donigan announced that Chas Goudie (Hinsdale, Ill./Benet Academy) and Ben Stephan (Vienna, Va./Gonzaga College HS) have decided to attend the University and play soccer for the Billikens. Both will have four years of eligibility beginning with the 2007-08 academic year.

Goudie, a 5-foot-11 forward, was a three-year starter at Benet Academy College Prep in Lisle, Ill. He buried a team-high 20 goals and added 14 assists for a team that achieved a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) ranking as high as ninth nationally in 2006. For his efforts, he was tabbed the 2006 Catholic Conference Eastern Suburban Player of the Year. In addition, he was named to the Daily Herald All-State team and appeared on the Chicago Tribune All-State Special Mention squad. He is also a product of the Chicago Magic Soccer Club, one of the elite clubs in the country.

"Chas has the potential to contribute on the offensive side of the ball," Donigan said. "He is a solid player with a great work ethic. We are looking forward to working and developing Chas and all our newcomers into solid contributors."

Stephan, a 6-foot-2 midfielder, started on the Gonzaga College High School squad that claimed the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) championship in 2006. He netted five goals and added six assists for 16 points en route to claiming All-WCAC second-team accolades. Outside of his prep career, Stephan was a member of the undefeated McLean MPS Celtic club team that captured the National Capital Soccer League (NSCL) Division I Championship in 2006. He also played at the HI-Performance Soccer Academy and with the Virginia Olympic Development Program (ODP) from 2004 to 2006.

"Ben has great technical skills for a player of his size," Donigan said. "He needs to continue to work hard and continue to develop.I have seen him do some pretty good things on the field, and we are hopeful that he can continue to get better in our system."

The pair concludes an incoming class that includes transfer Brandon Barklage (St. Louis, Mo./CBC/New Mexico), Beau Bellomy (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit), Josh Boemecke (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon), Charles Bryce (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit), Casey Herd (Arlington, Texas/Martin), David Kekec (St. Louis, Mo./Ladue) and Jordan Osborn (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North).
