St. Louis - Billiken assistant men's soccer coaches Mike Sorber and Tim Kelly joined four other SLU soccer alumni in a six-on-six international tournament in Germany, but were eliminated after posting a 1-2-1 record. The group participated in the Budweiser Cup after earning the right to represent the U.S. against teams from nine other nations.

Former Billikens Ken Costello (1995-98), Kevin Kalish (1997-98), Mike Moriarty (1995-98) and Pat Moriarty (1995-98) were part of the seven-man team. The club's lone win in the one-day tournament was against Argentina, and it tied Italy. It's losses came against the Netherlands and United Arab Emirates.

As a result of the trip, the team received tickets to the Ukraine-Switzerland and Brazil-Ghana World Cup matches.
