Angus Named Preseason All-American by Soccer America
Aug. 27, 2008
ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis senior defender Calum Angus (Portsmouth, England) was named to Soccer America's preseason All-America first team, as announced today by the publication. The honor adds to a growing list of preseason recognition for Angus. Earlier in the preseason, he was named to the 2008 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List in addition to earning spots on the CollegeSoccerNews.com preseason All-America team and the Atlantic 10 Conference's preseason All-Conference team. In addition, Angus has been identified as one of 10 "Division I Players to Watch" on NCAASports.com. Angus, the reigning A-10 Defensive Player of the Year, anchored a Billiken defense that yielded a league-low 13 goals in 2007. Offensively, Angus has 17 points (7G, 3A) to his credit, including a game-winner in each of his first three seasons. He was named second-team All-Conference following his sophomore season, and as a freshman he was named honorable mention All-Conference in addition to earning a spot on the A-10 All-Rookie team. The Billikens, ranked No. 6 in Soccer America's preseason poll, open the regular season Friday against San Diego at the Loyola Marymount University Fall Classic in Los Angeles. The Bills then face the host Lions on Sunday.
