ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis freshman midfielder Nick Maglasang (St. Louis, Mo./SLUH) was named the Atlantic 10 Conference's men's soccer Rookie of the Week for the period ending Sept. 13, the league office announced today.

Maglasang helped the Billikens to a key 3-1 win against Loyola Chicago Saturday in a game played at Toyota Park. He notched the first goal of his career in the 65th minute to open the scoring and later assisted on Mike Roach's insurance marker to secure the win for the Billikens. Maglasang's three-point performance against the Ramblers moves him into a tie for second on the SLU scoring list.

The only Billiken freshman to play every minute thus far this season, Maglasang entered the program with lofty expectations after being named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) High School All-American at SLUH. He was a preseason A-10 All-Rookie selection, and CollegeSoccerNews.com named Maglasang one of "100 Freshmen to Keep an Eye On" in 2009.

Saint Louis (2-2-0) continues its five-match road swing this weekend when it partakes in the University of Akron Tournament in Ohio. The Bills face Florida International Friday at 4 p.m. (CT) before battling the top-ranked Akron Zips Sunday at 1:30 p.m. (CT). Both games will be played at Lee Jackson Field on the Akron campus.
