Disbennett Tabbed Academic All-America

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis senior goalkeeper Pat Disbennett (St. Louis, Mo./Webster Groves) has been named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America selection by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Disbennett, who was named to the second team, joins a distinguished list of nine other Billikens who have claimed Academic All-America honors. A Chemistry major, Disbennett has started all 20 games for the Billikens. He leads the Atlantic 10 Conference and ranks 31st nationally with a 0.77 goals against average. He has posted seven shutouts on the season, which includes blankings of top-10 squads Connecticut, Northwestern and Creighton. Earlier this season, Disbennett was a candidate for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. He was one of just 30 senior men's soccer players across the country up for the honor, which encompasses four areas: classroom, character, community and competition. Other Billiken men's soccer Academic All-America's include Steve Bee (1990-91), Jeff DiMaria (1999-2000), John DiRaimondo (2006-07), Nick Gannon (2003), Dan Guffey (2006), Jack Jewsbury (2002), Kevin Kalish (1998-99), Casey Klipfel (1997) and Kevin Quigley (1997). Disbennett and the rest of the 23rd-ranked Billikens (11-4-5) host Drake in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday night at Robert R. Hermann Stadium. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
