Four Billikens Earn A-10 Honors

April 18, 2008

ST. LOUIS - Senior Felipe Acosta (Bogota, Colombia/Colegio Andino), junior Sean McManus (Berryton, Kan./Hayden) and sophomore P.J. Hendrie (New Braunfels, Texas/New Braunfels) of the Saint Louis men's tennis team have been selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference team by a vote of the league's head men's tennis coaches. Junior Adam Reeb (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic) was chosen to the A-10 Academic All-Conference team by the league's sports information directors.

Acosta collected first-team accolades after earning a spot on the second team last season. He posted an 11-17 record at No. 1 singles and was 8-19 at No. 1 doubles. Acosta concluded his career tied for 17th in singles wins (21) and 20th in doubles wins (21) on the all-time SLU charts.

Sean McManus

McManus, who played primarily No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles, was a second-team choice. His team-high 15 singles victories (15-12) tied him for fourth place on Saint Louis' all-time single-season list, and his 14 doubles wins (14-14) were good for a tie for eighth all-time. He also moved into 11th place in singles wins (32) and tied for 12th in doubles victories (28) on the Billikens' career lists.

Hendrie, who filled the No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles positions, joins McManus on the second team. He was 9-18 in singles play, including a 2-1 mark at the A-10 Championship, and 13-14 in doubles action. His 13 doubles wins gave him 25 for his career, lifting him into a tie for 15th place all-time at SLU.

P.J. Hendrie

Reeb is a repeat selection on the six-player Academic All-Conference team. He was 3-5 in singles but made a big impact in doubles, leading the Bills in winning percentage (14-6, .700) and pairing with Marcus Fadul at No. 3 for a team-best 11-5 slate, including 2-1 at the A-10 Championship. His 14 doubles victories tied him for eighth place on SLU's all-time single-season list, and he moved into 19th place in career doubles wins (23).

Adam Reeb

Saint Louis placed fifth at the Atlantic 10 Championship, its best-ever showing, after entering the tournament as the No. 10 seed. With an 11-10 mark, the Billikens registered a winning record for the first time since the 1996-97 season. In addition, SLU tallied a double-digit victory total for the first time since the 2002-03 campaign.
