Nov. 24, 2008
ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis director of tennis operations Jonathan Zych announced today that Chris Eriksson (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Billikens next year. Eriksson, who has captured two national open doubles titles, is ranked No. 38 in California, No. 42 in the Southwest Region and No. 153 nationally among seniors by TennisRecruiting.net. Among his notable victories are wins over nationally ranked juniors Cale Hammond (No. 57), Dominic Bermudez (No. 61) and Alex Yermanos (No. 71), as well as nationally ranked sophomores Jackson Withrow (No. 21) and Calvin Mark (No. 54). Additionally, Eriksson battled current Notre Dame freshman Daven Brodess, who reached No. 90 among seniors last year, and No. 10 sophomore Denis Nguyen in three-set defeats. "Chris Eriksson is a significant recruit for our program," Zych said. "He will come in with high credibility due to his impressive wins in singles and doubles. We are excited to welcome him to Saint Louis University. "Chris will be added to our singles and doubles lineups immediately," Zych said. "Our program has shown steady improvement recently, and we see Chris as a student-athlete who can help us improve even more. We love players with big, aggressive games who excel in doubles. Chris is that type of player."
