ST. LOUIS - Theresa Lisch (Belleville, Ill./Althoff) of the Saint Louis women's basketball team was selected the 2008-09 Atlantic 10 Conference female Scholar-Athlete of the Year by a vote of the A-10's directors of athletics. Lisch, who graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in communication sciences and disorders in May, is the second Billiken student-athlete to garner an A-10 Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, joining men's soccer player John DiRaimondo (2007).

In the 2008-09 season, Lisch became the second Saint Louis women's basketball player chosen to an All-Conference first team and the first to earn that distinction in the A-10. She became the first SLU women's basketball student-athlete to be named to the College Sports Information Directors of America/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America first team, and she was selected a Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association Scholar-Athlete for a second consecutive year. In addition, Lisch was tabbed A-10 women's basketball Student-Athlete of the Year and collected three A-10 Player of the Week honors.

Lisch led the A-10 in scoring (19.1 ppg) and free-throw percentage (.889) and ranked 25th and ninth in the nation, respectively, in those categories. She was fifth in the conference in 3-point field goals made per game (1.97), fifth in assists (3.63 apg) and sixth in 3-point field-goal percentage (.404). Lisch added 4.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.

Lisch claimed five school records and tied another this season. She set SLU standards for points in a season (574), free throws made in a career (406) and season (169), career free-throw percentage (.869) and points in a game (37 at La Salle), and she tied the school mark for single-game free-throw shooting (12-for-12 at Wyoming). On the Bills' career lists, Lisch finished second in scoring average (17.0 ppg), fourth in 3-point field goals made (137), fifth in points (1,363), fifth in 3-point field-goal percentage (.364) and seventh in assists (270).

Lisch was named the Billikens' Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year and Practice Player of the Year and was co-recipient of the Coaches' Award. Practice Player of the Year laurels are presented to the player who consistently displays the highest level of effort in daily practices, while the Coaches' Award goes to the player who best exemplifies going above and beyond what is expected of her.
