Fourteen Billikens Earn NFHCA Academic Honors
March 20, 2008
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) named 14 members of the 2007 Saint Louis field hockey team to the Division I National Academic Squad. As a team, the Billikens joined five other Atlantic 10 teams in earning the NFHCA's Division I National Academic Team Award with a team GPA of at least 3.0. Only six schools had more than the 14 selections by the Billikens. The National Academic Squad honors student-athletes who achieve at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA through the 2007 fall semester. The 14 Billikens recognized by the NFHCA include seniors Catherine Donovan (St. Louis, Mo. / Cor Jesu), Ashlea Hibshman (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick), juniors Cathi Brownell (Oconomowoc, Wis. / University Lake), Christine Frampus (Chevy Chase, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase), Mary Henry (Louisville, Ky. / Country Day), Meghan Hill (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation), Emily Kassab (Mount Joy, Pa. / Donegal), Jacklyn McGranahan (Bay Village, Ohio/Magnificat), sophomore Eva Luck (St. Louis, Mo. / Cor Jesu) and freshmen Stephanie Ertzberger (Wexford, Pa. / North Allegheny), Natalie Gamez (Fort Worth, Texas / Trinity Valley), Meghan Orbe (Chesterfield, Mo. / Nerinx Hall), Kelsey Shultz (St. Louis, Mo. / Villa Duchesne) and Kelsey Traynor (Denver, Colo. / St. Mary's).
This is the second-straight year the Billikens have been honored with the NFHCA's team award. In addition to the Billikens, A-10 members La Salle, Massachusetts, Richmond, Saint Joseph's and Temple also received the team award. |
