2005 Field Hockey Schedule Released
April 22, 2005 St. Louis, Mo. - Saint Louis head field hockey coach Maria Whitehead announced the Billikens' 2005 schedule today. Saint Louis bid adieu to its 2004 season with a second-place Northern Pacific Conference (NorPac) finish and immediately began preparation for its entrance to the Atlantic 10 Conference. For the first time in the program's 30-year history, the team will compete in the same league as other SLU athletic teams for fall competition. The season gets off to an early start with an exhibition date against crosstown rival Lindenwood at the Anheuser-Busch Center in Fenton, Mo., on Aug. 17. Southwest Missouri State will visit the Bills' homeland on Aug. 27. SLU hosts Central Michigan and New Hampshire over Labor Day weekend before embarking on a six-match road swing. The Billikens face Michigan State and James Madison in East Lansing, Mich., Sept. 10-11. The squad travels to Oxford, Ohio, to take on Miami (Ohio) and former NorPac foe Davidson in mid-September. Saint Louis heads to Louisville to play the Cardinals as well as play a neutral-site match with Syracuse. The heart of the schedule is the early October homestand with Atlantic 10 rivals Rhode Island, UMass, Temple, Saint Joseph's and Richmond. The Billikens visit A10 members West Chester and La Salle in late October. Temple hosts the Atlantic 10 Tournament in Philadelphia Nov. 4-5.
