Mueller Named Academic All-District
May 30, 2006 St. Louis - Saint Louis senior midfielder Jill Mueller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline) has been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII At-Large team. As a first-team selection, she will be placed on the All-America ballot with other district first-team honorees. An arts and sciences/contract option major, Mueller was an integral part of a defense that posted the third-best goals against average in the Atlantic 10 in 2005. She also helped out on the offensive end by tying for the team lead with five assists. She scored her first collegiate goal in SLU's 3-2 come-from-behind victory against Central Michigan earlier this season. Mueller represented Saint Louis in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's North/South Senior All Star Game in November. She was named to the 2005 A-10 Academic All-Conference team and was also a 2004 NorPac All-Conference performer. The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District At-Large team includes student-athletes participating in crew, gymnastics, skiing, fencing, ice hockey, swimming, water polo, field hockey, lacrosse, tennis, golf, wrestling, and rifle. Nominees must be a starter or important reserve, have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at the nominating institution.
