2008 Field Hockey Schedule Announced

July 9, 2008

2008 Field Hockey Schedule.

Saint Louis University head field hockey coach Marcie Boyer has announced the Billikens' 2008 schedule. The Billikens will play 17 games this season, including six home contests. SLU will face two teams that were ranked in the top 10 of the season-ending 2007 National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll and four other teams that received votes.

The Billikens open the season on Aug. 30 when they take on James Madison, which was ranked No. 7 in the 2007 coaches poll, in a tournament hosted by Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. The next day, SLU faces Georgetown. The home opener for the Billikens is Friday, Sept. 5, when Missouri State comes to the Anheuser-Busch Center. On Sunday, Sept. 7, Indiana visits.

The Billikens face No. 6 Michigan on Sept. 13 to kick off a five-game road trip. SLU returns home for a game against Bellarmine on Saturday, Sept. 27. The Billikens head back to the road for a four-match swing and begin league play at defending Atlantic 10 Conference champion Massachusetts on Oct. 12. After a tilt at Harvard, the Billikens play at Temple and Saint Joseph's.

The Bills close out the regular season with three straight home games. West Chester visits on Friday, Oct. 24, followed by a game against La Salle on Sunday, Oct. 26. Senior Day is Saturday, Nov. 1, when Richmond visits St. Louis. Temple hosts the 2008 A-10 Tournament Nov. 7-8 in Philadelphia.
