McGranahan Garners A-10 Player of the Week Honors
Sept. 29, 2008
Senior midfielder Jacklyn McGranahan (Bay Village, Ohio / Magnificat) was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 28. In a 5-0 victory against Bellarmine on Sept. 27, she had a hand in all five Billiken goals and finished with a hat trick and two assists for eight points. "Jacklyn was determined to win the game on Saturday, and her play demonstrated that drive," Billiken head coach Marcie Boyer said. "She has been working hard the past few weeks, and it was nice to see that pay off. Jacklyn has made it her goal to play her best as a senior and help the team reach its goals this season." McGranahan's point total was the highest in a game by a Billiken since Nov. 6, 1999, and marked the first SLU hat trick since Oct. 18, 2000. She tallied the game winner, then notched assists on SLU's next two goals. McGranahan followed up with the last two tallies of the game to complete the hat trick and close out the scoring. The senior leads the team with 10 points and ranks second on the team with four assists. The Billikens take a break before resuming play with their A-10 opener on Sunday, Oct. 12, at Massachusetts. With four wins, the Billikens have already matched last year's victory total and still have seven games left to play in the regular season.
