ST. LOUIS - Seven members of the Saint Louis University field hockey team were honored today after being named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference team. The teams were announced after a vote conducted by the league's coaches.

Sophomore goalkeeper Amy Wasserman was named first-team All-Conference, while sophomore Kristin Lueders picked up second-team honors. Senior forward Carin Boone and junior back Michelle Sinclair were both honorable-mention All-Conference selections. Freshman forward Mary Henry was named to the A-10 All-Rookie team, while senior midfielder Jill Mueller and Sinclair were both honored as academic All-Conference selections. Saint Louis head coach Maria Whitehead was named Co-Coach of the Year.

"These honors are a testament to the dedication and perseverance put forth by our players this year," interim coach Katie Kanara said. "All are very deserving of their honors and this is a tremendous way to cap a great season."

Wasserman, who played every minute in goal for the Billikens, finished the regular season second in the A-10 and eighth in the nation with 144 saves. Her .796 save percentage was good for 10th in the nation. On the year, Wasserman finished with a 7-11 record and posted two shutouts.

Lueders led the Billikens in scoring with 16 points (7G, 2A). She posted a team-high 44 shots and notched game-winning goals against Missouri State and A-10 foe West Chester.

Boone started 17 matches at forward this season for the Billikens. She finished the year third on the team with three assists and managed 10 shots.

Sinclair was a staple on the Billikens defense. She started all 18 games and registered a team-high five defensive saves. She dabbled a bit on offense as well, registering nine points (2G, 5A) on the season. Her five assists tied her for the team lead. The accounting major was also named to the All-Academic team.

Henry finished second on the team with 12 points (5G, 2A) and tied Lueders with two game-winning goals. She earned the Billikens' first weekly A-10 honor when she was named Rookie of the Week after scoring both goals in the Bills' 2-1 triumph over A-10 opponent Rhode Island.

Mueller, an arts and science contract option major, was honored for her work on the field as well as in the classroom. She finished the season with a goal and five assists, and will represent the Bills at the National Field Hockey Coaches Association North/South Senior All-Star game on Sat., Nov. 19.

Whitehead, who is currently on a medical leave of absence, helped the squad to a 7-11 record this season. Their seven wins are the most victories since the Billikens posted eight in 1991. SLU finished its inaugural A-10 season with a 3-4 conference mark and a share of fourth place in the A-10 standings. The Bills lost out on a post-season bid due to a head-to-head tiebreaker with Saint Joseph's.
