Women's Golf Wraps Up Inaugural Season

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. - Freshman Lainey Trahan shot a career-best 93 in the final round of the Conference USA Championship on Wednesday as the Saint Louis women's golf team closed out its inaugural season. The Billikens opened the tournament with a score of 358, just one stroke off their season low. After a 378 on Tuesday, SLU posted a 362 in the final round for a total of 1098.

Freshman Keely Fitzgerald led the Billikens throughout the tournament. After shooting a team-low 81 in the first round, she shot 87 in the second and 90 in the third round for a total of 258 and a share of 44th place. Freshman Jenny Madras matched Fitzgerald's 81 in the opening round, then posted scores of 96 and 90 to finish at 267 in 46th place.

Kaela Burke steadily lowered her score through the tournament, wrapping up with a team-low third-round score of 89 after shooting 96 and 94 in the first and second rounds, respectively. She claimed 48th place in the individual standings. Trahan's final-round 93 was four strokes off her previous career best and followed rounds of 100 and 101. She took 49th place, while junior Amber Dodman completed the Billiken team in 50th place with scores of 113, 113 and 116.

Overall, Tulane rallied from nine strokes back heading into the final round to claim the team title. The Green Wave shot 298, 306 and a tournament-low 294 to surge ahead for the win. TCU was five strokes back in second place.

Tulane's Alison Walshe maintained her day-two lead in the individual medallist race, closing the tournament with a 71 to finish at 214 (-2). TCU's Stacey Bieber took second, nine strokes back at 223 after a final-round 28.
