MACOMB, Ill. - Freshman Jennifer Madras shot a first-round 81 to lead the Saint Louis women's golf program in its first ever competition at Western Illinois' Westerwinds Classic. As a team, the Billikens posted a score of 380 in the first round at Harray Mussatto Golf Course to hold fifth place.

Madras was steady throughout the day, shooting 41 on the front nine and 40 on the back to finish the round tied for fourth place with Northern Illinois' Jackie Bailey.

Freshman Keely Fitzgerald posted an 89 to round out the tournament's top 20 individuals. Freshman Kaela Burke's 96 put her in a tie for 26th, while freshman Lainey Trahan posted a 114 to hold 32nd place. Junior Amber Dodman completed the Billiken team, shooting 132.

Overall, Northern Illinois leads the team competition with a score of 324. UNI's Lisa Bailey is the individual leader at 73 (+1), two strokes ahead of Loyola's Nicole Puch.

The five teams will wrap up the tournament with 18 holes on Tuesday.
