ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University director of athletics Cheryl L. Levick announced that director of golf operations Ed Schwent has resigned his position. Schwent left the Billikens' men's and women's golf teams to become the full-time teaching pro at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Club.

Schwent was named head coach of the men's team in September 1998 then added the women's program in September 2004. Twice named among Missouri's top teaching pros by Golf Digest, Schwent led the men's team to 29 top-five finishes, including six tournament titles.

The status of SLU golf improved as he began recruiting the most talented players in SLU golf history. Nine of the program's top-10 all-time career averages were posted by players he coached, and the 10 best three-round tournament team scores came under his watch. Schwent signee Evan Frederick became the program's first All-Conference USA selection. Frederick and current Billiken senior David Perritt are the only Scholar All-Americans in the program's history.
