ON DECK - The Saint Louis Billikens (18-28-1, 4-17 Conference USA) take a hiatus before closing out the regular season. The Bills are off until hosting USF in the final series of the season. The Bills and Bulls will play two games on Sat., May 7, beginning at 1 p.m. A single game is scheduled for Sun., May 8 at noon.

SENIOR SEND OFFS - The Billikens will honor three seniors between the doubleheader contests against USF. Making their final appearances will be Adrienne May, Beth Schomaker and Tiffany Thurow.

RUNS RECORD - Senior Adrienne May has scored 29 runs this season, just two short of the single-season record. The mark is currently held by Dawn Elser who touched home 31 times during the 1987 season.

FRESH MARK - Freshman Kara Sell has driven in 21 runs this season, the most by a freshman in school history, and tied for seventh on the single-season list.

FIT TO BE TIED - The Billikens' 1-1 tie against SMS last week was the first tie for SLU since a 4-4 tie against Providence early in the 1990 season. The game was only the sixth time in school history a game has ended in a tie.

RECAPPING LAST WEEK - The Billikens had a busy week with seven games in five days. The Bills began the week with a sweep over UT-Martin, 1-0 and 3-2. They lost game one of a doubleheader against SMS, then had the first tie in more than 15 years when game two was called at 1-1 due to weather. Louisville took all three games of a conference series this past weekend.

COACH Jim Molloy - Jim Molloy is in his ninth season at the helm of the Saint Louis softball program. His career record stands at 123-325-1. Molloy is the winningest softball coach at Saint Louis and in 2003 led the Billikens to their first winning record since 1987. Molloy registered his 100th career coaching victory when the Billikens won the second game of the doubleheader at UMKC on Wed., March 24, 2004.

DOUBLE A - Sophomore Allison Appenfeller (Leawood, Kan. / Blue Valley North) played in five games last week, making three starts.

IN EARNEST - Sophomore Christy Ernst (Lake St. Louis, Mo. / Wentzville Holt) singled in the SMS finale ... had an RBI single and scored in the SMS opener ... went 2-for-3, including a double, and scored a run in the second UT-Martin game ... had a hit in the first UTM tilt.

HEADY PLAY - Junior Ashlee Heady (Belleville, Ill. / East) had two doubles and scored a run in the second SMS game ... had an RBI single in game one versus SMS ... drove in a run in the first UT-Martin game.

LOGAN'S RUN - Junior Logan Justice (St. Louis, Mo. / Parkway South) had a hit and a walk in the final Louisville game ... doubled in game two versus SMS ... singled in a run in the first SMS contest.

MAY DAY - Senior Adrienne May (Fairview Heights, Ill. / Belleville East) doubled in game one at Louisville ... singled in the first game versus SMS ... tripled, walked and scored two runs in the second UT-Martin contest ... went 2-for-3, including a triple, and scored a run in the first UTM game.

NIELSEN RATINGS - Sophomore Lise Nielsen (Wheat Ridge, Colo. / Wheat Ridge) suffered a preseason injury to her non-throwing shoulder, and she has not played a game this season.

BUY OR SELL - Sophomore Jill Pursell (Pinckneyville, Ill. / Pinckneyville) singled and drove in a run in the second game at Louisville.

LONG DISTANCE RENNER - Sophomore Jenna Renner (Belleville, Ill. / Althoff Catholic) singled in game one against SMS ... had a hit in the second UT-Martin game.

THE SHOE-MAKER - Senior Beth Schomaker (Germantown, Ill. / Breese Mater Dei) drew a walk in game two of the UT-Martin doubleheader.

THROW STRIKES - Senior Tiffany Thurow (North Aurora, Ill. / Rosary) pitched 4-2/3 innings in the series at Louisville ... worked four innings in game one against SMS.

ASHES, ASHES - Junior AshLeigh Williams (Festus, Mo. / Festus) drew two walks in the middle game at Louisville ... singled, scored a run and stole a base in game one against SMS ... had an RBI single in game two against UT-Martin ... had a hit and a walk in the first UTM game.

BURNS UNIT - Freshman Jess Burns (Linn, Mo. / Helias) drew a walk and scored in the final Louisville game.

EBB AND FLOW - Freshman Lorena Floccari (Tallmadge, Ohio / Walsh Jesuit) was handed the loss despite giving up just five hits and notching five strikeouts in the Louisville finale ... registered five Ks in the tie against SMS ... did not give up an earned run in the game two win over UT-Martin.

BERT AND ERNIE - Freshman Jody Herbert (Moline, Ill. / Alleman Catholic) drew a walk in the finale at Louisville ... had a single in the first game against SMS ... went 2-for-2 in the second UT-Martin game and drove in a run.

FAR AND AWAY - Freshman Katie Hoffarth (Belleville, Ill. / Althoff) had a hit in the final game at Louisville ... enjoyed a 2-for-2 day in game two at Louisville and scored a run.

AROUND THE HORN - Freshman Samantha Horn (Dupo, Ill. / Dupo) drew a bases-loaded walk to plate a run in the second game against Louisville.

THE VAN - Freshman Ashley Levan (Springfield, Ill. / Sacred Heart-Griffin) shut out UT-Martin in game one and had five strikeouts.

NICK OF TIME - Freshman Kristi Rasnic (St. Louis, Mo. / Bishop DuBourg) appeared in five games and had two at-bats in the second Louisville game.

CASEY AT BAT - Freshman Casey Schomaker (New Baden, Ill. / Wesclin) got into three games last week and had an at-bat in the second Louisville game.

KARA ON - Freshman Kara Sell (Chandler, Ariz. / Corona del Sol) singled in the Louisville finale ... drove in the lone SLU run in the second SMS game ... singled, walked and scored a run in game one against SMS ... with a runner at third and less than two out, has delivered an RBI 11 times in 19 at-bats.
