Hellberg, Elmore Named All-Conference

May 1, 2008

ST. LOUIS - Senior Amanda Hellberg (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) and freshman Hailee Elmore (Springfield, Ill./Springfield) of the Saint Louis women's tennis team have been selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference team by a vote of the league's head coaches. Hellberg garnered a place on the first team, while Elmore was chosen to the second unit.

Hellberg, who also earned All-Conference accolades in 2006, played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. She posted an 11-16 singles record, and her 12-14 doubles mark included a seven-match winning streak. Hellberg finished third in total victories (122), tied for third in doubles wins (54) and fifth in singles victories (68) on the Saint Louis career lists.

Second-team selection Hailee Elmore

Elmore enjoyed one of the most successful seasons in SLU women's tennis history while playing No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles. She led the Billikens in singles victories (21), singles winning percentage (21-6, .778), doubles victories (17) and doubles winning percentage (17-5, .773). Her 21 singles triumphs rank sixth on SLU's single-season chart, and her 38 total victories are tied for sixth on the Billiken single-season list.

In addition, Elmore's .778 singles winning percentage ranks second at Saint Louis for players who have tallied at least 20 wins in a season, and her .773 doubles winning mark is second for Billiken players who have collected 15 or more victories in a season. She won five of six completed matches at the A-10 Championship (3-0 singles, 2-1 doubles) and put together winning streaks of nine singles matches and eight doubles contests.

The Billikens posted a 13-12 record, including a 2-2 slate at the A-10 Championship where they placed sixth.
