Lozanova, Renda Earn Atlantic 10 Second Team Accolades
May 2, 2007 PHILADELPHIA - Saint Louis seniors Katerina Lozanova (Sofia, Bulgaria/Walt Whitman [Md.]) and Ana Renda (Bahia Blanca, Argentina/Escuela Normal Superior) became just the second and third Billiken women's tennis players to receive Atlantic 10 honors as the pair was named to the All-Conference second team following SLU's second full season in the league. After moving to the No. 1 singles position prior to the spring season, Lozanova finished her final collegiate campaign with a team-best 19-14 record. Additionally, her 2007 ledger includes three singles matches against players ranked among the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) top 100. She was also one half of the Bills' top doubles tandem that posted a 16-16 mark. Lozanova tallied 54 singles wins in her four years at Saint Louis, which ties for eighth on SLU's career chart. Meanwhile, her 44 doubles victories tie for ninth on the school's career list. At the A-10 Championship, Lozanova was the only Billiken to win more than one singles match, including earning Saint Louis' only point in the season-ending loss to Duquesne. She won both of her singles matches that were completed and went 2-1 in doubles action. Renda finished the season with a 17-14 doubles mark, the best record on the squad. Most of her matches were played at the No. 2 position, where she and partner Jo Becker (Frankfurt, Germany/Ziehen School) compiled an 11-8 ledger. Renda finished eighth on SLU's career doubles win list with 47. She primarily played at No. 2 singles in 2007, finishing with a 14-22 record. Her 43 career singles victories put her at No. 14 on the school's all-time list. Renda went 1-1 in both singles and doubles at the league championship. Saint Louis finished the 2006-07 season with a 13-15 record and tied for seventh at the league championship.
