ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis sophomore Hailee Elmore (Springfield, Ill./Springfield) has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 7 women's at-large second team by district members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Elmore is just the second Billiken women's tennis player to earn the prestigious honor, joining 2001 first-team member Julie Siemers.

A communication sciences and disorders major, Elmore is one of only three sophomores among 20 student-athletes who garnered a spot on either the first team or second team in District 7. Last month, she was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference first team and the A-10 Academic All-Conference squad.

Elmore played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the 2009 Billikens. She led the team with 19 singles wins and was second with 17 doubles victories. Elmore won eight of her last nine singles tilts, including a 2-0 mark at the A-10 Championship, to finish with a 12-8 dual-meet ledger. Halfway through her tenure at Saint Louis, she ranks 17th in singles wins (40) and doubles wins (34) on the school's career lists.

Elmore helped eighth-seeded SLU exceed expectations at the A-10 Championship. The Billikens placed fifth at the conference tournament, their best finish in four seasons of A-10 membership. Saint Louis won nine of its last 11 matches, including a 3-1 record at the A-10 Championship, to finish 13-11.

"Hailee's selection to the Academic All-District team is a result of her desire to achieve excellence on and off the court and her commitment to a strong work ethic," head coach Jonathan Zych said. "She balances academics and athletics as well as anyone and has achieved a high level of success in both. Hailee truly exemplifies the Saint Louis University student-athlete."
