Elmore, Rielley Fall in ITF Event
Oct. 17, 2008
ST. LOUIS - The Saint Louis doubles team of sophomore Hailee Elmore (Springfield, Ill./Springfield) and freshman Maureen Rielley (Shawnee Mission, Kan./Bishop Miege) has been eliminated from the main draw at the Dwight Davis/Merrill Lynch Championships, a Futures Event on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Circuit. Elmore and Rielley were downed 6-4, 6-2 by Brynn Boren and Noel Scott Thursday in the opening round of the 16-team, single-elimination draw at Dwight Davis Tennis Center. The Billiken duo qualified for the event, which features players from 13 countries, earlier this week. "Even though they did not advance, this was a great opportunity for Hailee and Maureen," head coach Jonathan Zych said. "They played a good match against a quality doubles pair. I am proud of the way they jelled as a team after just a few days of playing together." Elmore and Rielley join former Billikens Lance Vodicka, Ikaika Jobe and Amanda Hellberg as Saint Louis players who have qualified for the main draw of an ITF event. Their participation marked the conclusion of the fall season for the Billiken women.
