The Redhawks rattled off three points to start the opening set before SLU got on the board on a SEMO service error. The Bills gradually chipped away at the lead, tying the score at points six through nine before using a 10-3 to go up 19-12. Fonke, Casey Chernin and Megan Boken each added two kills during the rally. SEMO did not go quietly as it cut the margin to four at 23-19 before Fonke closed the set with two kills. Fonke led all players with seven kills and seven digs in the first set as SLU out-hit SEMO .378 to .212.

A Sally Warning kill, two Redhawk hitting errors and a Warning-McCloud block allowed SLU to go ahead 4-0 in the early stages of the second set. SEMO tried to trim the margin but the Billikens used a 5-0 run mid-set to push the lead out to nine at 15-6. Fonke contributed two kills while Roth added a kill and a service ace. SEMO mounted a 7-3 run to cut SLU's lead to five at 18-13 but that was as close as it would get the rest of the way. Boken recorded a set-high five kills as the Bills hit at a .268 clip to the Redhawks' .000.

The Redhawks led early in the third set but it was not long before Saint Louis utilized a 4-0 run to go up for good at 8-6. SEMO scored back-to-back points just one time after that as the Billikens cruised to victory. Fonke, Warning and Lauren Christman tied for set-high honors with three kills apiece.

Tomorrow, the Billikens take on Duquesne at Chaifetz Pavilion at 7 p.m. (CT).
