Antanaviciute Named First-Team All-Conference

Nov. 18, 2004

Louisville, Ky. - Saint Louis junior middle blocker Aida Antanaviciute (Siauliai, Lithuania) was named to the first-team All-Conference USA volleyball team, and middle blocker Sutton Lasater (St. Louis, Mo. / Marquette) was selected to the All-Freshmen team. The All-Conference teams were announced on Thursday prior to the start of the C-USA Tournament in Louisville, Ky.

"We are tremendously proud of both Aida and Sutton," head coach Anne Kordes said. "Aida has proven throughout the season that she is not only one of the best players in Conference USA but one of the best in the country. For Sutton to have the impact that she has had as a freshman is remarkable. She has been strong on the offensive end and has been one of our best blockers, too. We are pleased that the league's coaches recognized both of their efforts."

Antanaviciute ranks second in the nation in kills per game and has 643 kills this season. She is the first volleyball player in league history to be named Player of the Week four times in the same season. Antanaviciute has posted nine matches with at least 30 kills and earlier this season had 45 kills, the most since the NCAA adopted the rally-scoring format.

Lasater is second on the team in kills with 263 and paces the team with 119 blocks. She also leads the squad with 31 service aces and has played in 114 of the team's 115 games this season. Lasater has reached double digits in kills 13 times this season and had a team-high nine blocks three times this season.

The seventh-seeded Billikens began play at the 2004 ChevronTexaco Conference USA tournament in Louisville, Ky., on Fri., Nov. 19, with a 5 p.m. (CT) match against No. 10 seed USF.
