Strengthening the partnership between student-athletes and administration.
The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is designed to enhance communication between the Department of Athletics and SLU's student-athletes. The group is comprised of one representative from each of the program's 18 varsity sports. Bi-monthly meetings provide a forum for the department to share news with its student-athletes such as NCAA legislation, upcoming student-athlete seminars and athletic department plans.
Perhaps most importantly, however, the council provides a forum for student-athletes to share news and events not only with the athletic department but also with other student-athletes. Each sport representative is asked to give updates on his or her sports at each meeting so that everyone knows what each sport is doing. Furthermore, each team representative is asked to have his or her team attend at least one game of every team as a team, whether it be a golf tournament, a cross country meet or a soccer game.
