SAINT LOUIS UNIVERSITY SPORTS MEDICINE
Under the direction of the Saint Louis University Athletic Department, the goal of Saint Louis University Sports Medicine Staff is to provide the highest quality of comprehensive health care services to our student-athletes associated with their athletic participation at SLU. The Billiken Sports Medicine Staff are determined to provide the highest quality care by managing all risks affecting health and safety of all student-athletes.
Billiken student-athletes receive health care from some of the top physicians in the nation. Many of the physicians are nationally recognized leaders in their respected medical field. Our physicians are tirelessly dedicated to the Billikens, covering athletic events and providing their medical service to athletes daily as well as on many evenings and weekends.
The SLU SportsCare Clinic also serves the student-athletes. It features physical therapy services and physician services for SLU students conveniently located at the Student Health Center in Marchetti Towers.
An extensive referral network also is in place, through the Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center, the Anheuser-Busch Eye Institute, Center for Advanced Dental Education and SLUCare; Billiken student-athletes receive medical care from some of the nation's top specialists. These areas include allergy/asthma, cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, gastroenterology, general surgery, neurology, nutrition, ophthamology, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, physical therapy, psychology and radiology.
The athletic training room at SLU is equipped with the latest state of the art equipment which is strategically designed to provide the best care and performance. This equipment includes a Swim Ex Rehabilitation Pool including an underwater treadmill, Grimm Cold Plunge pool, several types of modality equipment and other essential pieces of rehabilitation equipment. Each piece of equipment has been designed to give the student-athletes the best care and to aid them in returning to competition as quickly and safely as possible.
