Strength and Conditioning

MISSION STATEMENT
To provide Saint Louis University student-athletes with the most effective, time-efficient, and safest training methods and techniques supported by current scientific research.

SLU STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Muscular strength and endurance, running speed and cardio-respiratory ability all are factors when making a play, executing a specific skill or working at a high level during an athletic contest. One's level of fitness also can impact longevity relative to preventing injuries and/or decreasing the severity of one if it does occur. Student-athletes can improve their performance potential and decrease the risk of injury by elevating existing strength and fitness levels through a comprehensive strength and conditioning program. Therefore, the SLU Strength and Conditioning program has two primary goals:

1. Maximize overall strength and fitness levels to prevent or reduce the severity of injury
2. Improve athletic performance potential within the confines of the student-athlete's genetic potential.
