2009-2010 Tryout Information

The date is set for the 2009-2010 Saint Louis University Saintsation auditions! Saturday April 4th and Sunday April 5th at the new Chaifetz arena. Both days will begin promptly at 10:00am. Doors will open for registration at 9:00am sharp!

SLU is looking for the most athletic, well rounded, and talented women for this years team. We are calling for all female students who have a background in either cheer or dance. The audition will be a combination of dance and cheer skills. Even if you are only familiar with one area, we encourage you to still come out to auditions and show us what talent you can bring to the team. We encourage everyone who is interested in auditioning to attend our optional open gym clinics. These clinics are aimed to help participants better prepare themselves for auditions. We will focus on dance skills, tumbling, stunting, and basic arm motions. The dates are March 24, 26, and 29th at Chafeitz arena. Times TBA.

Saintsation tryout requirements

April 4th will be dedicated to teaching a dance routine, chants, and stunting. You will be taught a short 30 second dance routine along with 2 chants that will be performed in front of a judging panel on April 5th. Tryouts are CLOSED to families, friends, and the public!

You will also be asked to perform a MINIMUM of 4 of the following skills:

  • toe touch
  • axel turn
  • double back pirroute
  • round off
  • round off back hand spring
  • standing back hand spring

You will also be given the opportunity to demonstrate any other skill you are confident in performing. For example: any tumbling pass or skill, any turn combination, leap combination, etc.

VERY IMPORTANT that you bring the following items to auditions:

  • Saintsations Application (PDF Format)
  • Sports physical from certified physician releasing athlete to try out (appointments can be made at student health). This is also required for incoming freshman, so please contact us and we can assist you with getting this set up.
  • Copy of insurance card

What to wear:

  • black shorts
  • tank top or sports bra
  • tennis shoes
  • No oversize tshirts or pants!

What are the benefits of being a Saintsation?

  • Perform and cheer at all men's home basketball games at the new Chaifetz arena in front of 10,000 Billiken fans!
  • Travel to A10 Basketball Championship (2008-2009 sites were Charlotte, NC and Atlantic City, NJ)

Is there a financial obligation?

Only for summer camp and summer camp clothes. around $200.
